Hospitality Program
This unique program empowers under-privileged students who dream of making a mark in the hotel industry but are unable to afford hotel management courses. Precisely why, we have partnered with the Youth Career Initiative, now known as Sustainability Hospitality Program, in the UK. This partnership enables 18-year and plus students of Yuva Parivartan, who have passed 10th grade, to acquire on-the-job training in four operational departments at five-star hotels. Our partnership circle includes more than 35 five-star hotels in Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Raipur, Lucknow, Pune and Jaipur. We are in association with renowned hotel brands such as Marriott, Hyatt, IHCL, ITC, Trident & Oberoi and IHG group of hotels.
The hotel management program comprises of two parts. The first part consists of 100 hours of English-speaking sessions and life skill sessions. The second part comes with a three-month training of hard skills in an established hotel. Through the program, we provide:
- Free training at five/four-star hotels for under-privileged students in the age group 18-26, who have passed their 10th grade.
- Free spoken English sessions and life skills training at Yuva Parivartan centres
- Training for three months (6 days a week, 9 hours a day). Out of which 80% will be hands-on and 20% in the classroom.
- Placement Assistance
Yuva Parivartan, through its hotel-partnerships, also strives to enhance the program by providing:
- Rotation within key departments of the hotel for the first month and specialization in the last two months
- Free Uniforms
- Free duty-meals
- Free in-house Medical Facilities
- Stipend for students as per the organization policy during 3 months of training.
- Opportunities for students of merit to join the 2–3-year apprenticeship program at the same hotel
Training Survivors of Human Trafficking
This program aims at rebuilding the lives of survivors of human trafficking and girls from destitute backgrounds (POCSO and At-Risk candidates), by skilling them to earn livelihoods. The girls in the program are rescued during the raids conducted by police. After which they are placed in government correction homes for five weeks while the official paperwork is completed. After the court’s order, The Child and Women committee (CWC) transfer the girls, of 18 years & above, to the civil societies that provide After Care services. Yuva Parivartan partners with these organizations and supports them through vocational trainings. Empowering these girls with vocational trade is an integral part of the rehabilitation process. It helps them return back to the society with a job after the necessary skill training. We offer courses in hospitality, computing, tailoring, beauty and digital marketing. During their 3 months of training program, we provide our students with a monthly stipend of INR 5000 for daily expenses. This stipend is inclusive of the per student cost. We also follow a curriculum of 100 hours that includes Life Skill and English Speaking Training, Communication Skills, Digital Skills, Financial Literacy, Self-Discovery, Basic Work Readiness, Mindfulness, Work Ethics, Resume writing and Interview Skills. These girls deserve special attention and one-on-one counselling sessions in order to change their outlook towards life. Our counselling sessions help the girls to regain the trust and confidence, which they have unfortunately lost due to their traumatic past.
Community batches in Red Light Area
Through this program, our sole motive is to provide the women of Red Light Area (RLA) an alternate livelihood option. This training program will help them to learn a new skill and encourage them to leave their current trade and start earning a living of dignity and pride. Helpless and desperate, the women of RLA struggle to make a living in conditions that one can only imagine. They continue in the trade out of desperation, to feed their families and to provide them with life’s necessities. Lack of education stops them from exploring other means of livelihood. But even with the odds against them, they make sure their children never go through the same environment, challenges or threats that they had gone through.
As a pilot, we implemented our first batch in Kamathipura. It was received with a lot of cooperation and enthusiasm from the ‘didis’, that’s how fondly we call them. They were punctual, attentive and regular for their classes. And most of all, they all had an undying fire to learn.
With such a positive outcome from our first batch, YP is planning more community batches for the women of RLA. They would be trained in jewellery making, tailoring, mehendi , beauty and wellness etc. We were able to train around 200 commercial sex workers in their desired courses. These courses were NSDC approved, and they were given certificates at the end of the program.
Training in shelter homes
Yuva Parivartan started working with shelter homes to provide skill to young girls who were not allowed to move out of the shelter home because of CWC and court restrictions. We have been working with the shelter homes in Ulhasnagar, RF Boisar, RF Pune, RF Delhi, RF Kandivali. We were able to reach out to more than 200 girls in various shelter homes. And they have all been awarded NSDC certificates post their training.
